James Timar, CPA, EA

President

James purchased the firm from his father, George in 2017. His desire to help and serve others led him to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a CPA. For several years, he managed a CPA firm in Irvine. He then came back to assist his father in running the family CPA firm, which led to the eventual buyout. James is not authorized to sign reports on attest engagements pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 5095 but employs individuals who are.

Lisa Marrujo, CPA, MST

Certified Public Accountant

Lisa has worked for the company since 1996 through its various ownership changes. She prepares personal tax returns, business tax returns and compiles and reviews financial statements. She also assists clients with personal and business tax planning. Lisa is authorized to sign reports on attest engagements pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 5095.

Shirley Kim, CPA, MST

Certified Public Accountant

Shirley Kim, CPA joined Ferguson and Timar and Co. in 2019. Her responsibilities include preparing business and individual tax returns and assisting in compilation and reviews of financial statements. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s in accounting and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Associate in New York City before relocating to California. Shirley is authorized to sign reports on attest engagements pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 5095. She resides in Orange County with her husband and two children. Shirley enjoys participating in various outdoor activities and traveling. She is also involved in volunteering at church and various non-profit organizations.

George Timar

Certified Public Accountant (inactive)

George has been a CPA for over 30 years. He has developed a specialty in personal and business taxation for many industries. His special experience in owning accounting firms in both California and Maine has given him a broad perspective. George is semi-retired and living in Thailand with his wife. He returns every tax season to assist in preparing tax returns and meeting with the many clients he has developed relationships with over the years.

Kathy Swinney

Office Manager

Kathy has worked with Ferguson, Timar, and Company for over seven years. As Office Manager, she handles all billing, accounts receivable and payables. Throughout her career, she has worked as an office manager in various industries which has given her the tools to be an effective leader in the office place.

Tammy L. Sixbery

Accountant, Bookkeeper

Tammy has worked in accounting and bookkeeping for over 30 years. Her experience working with CPA Firms in Orange County, California has made her extremely valuable in her field of expertise. Throughout the year, Tammy works with many different companies giving them the tools they need to evaluate their financial progress. She also aids them in gathering accurate numbers to prepare their income tax returns. Tammy is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor and also works with clients to set up custom software systems that meet their needs. Tammy has experience in preparation of corporate, partnership, and personal income tax returns.

Amy Timar

Bookkeeper

Amy joined Ferguson, Timar and Company in 2022. She is experienced in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and Microsoft Excel. Amy enjoys helping people organize their financial activity and reach and maintain financial health. She lives in Orange County with her two sons, two cats, and bunny.

Janet Wilder

Administrative Assistant

Janet Wilder is Administrative Assistant for Ferguson, Timar, and Company. She enjoys her position as a support person for clients and co-workers alike. Janet has had a varied career path – from a real estate agent, events coordinator, property manager, executive personal assistant to an intelligence analyst. Janet earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management from California State University, Fullerton with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is certified through the California Department of Justice/CSUF in crime and intelligence analysis. In her spare time, Janet enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren and following true crime events. She strives to live by her favorite quote, “Choice is your greatest power.”
